For a longterm project at our client, an international insurance company based in Zurich we are looking for anAnalytical Platform Administrator (2622)
In this role you are responsible for the conceptual design of business applications. You will work closely with Business Analysts to understand requirements and with Group IT Architecture in driving architectural solutions for specific applications.
In detail the position includes the following tasks:
Monitor the health, uptime and system alerts on production Palantir systems
Apply OS, application and hardware updates and upgrades to production systems in Palantir and datacenters
Secure and harden operating systems and software dependencies as per specifications and general industry best practices
Develop and maintain scripts to automate tasks and deployments across clusters in different geographic locations
Help specify and develop product enhancements and features that will increase uptime and decrease overall maintenance cost
Utilize testing environments to ensure that all changes will not break existing functionality across Palantir instances
Understand customers’ processes and products and how they fit within the goals of the business unit
Review and validate the detailed technical design for business applications provided by the supplier to ensure alignment with business requirements
Estimate rough order of magnitude for the level of effort/cost of new application functionality
Perform quality review checks on project deliverables
Make recommendations for application performance improvements
Acts as liaison between business and IT, as assigned
Support Portfolio Manager in building Business Case, including cost/benefit analysis, risk assessment, project scope, and development of a high level plan
Support the implementation activities, troubleshooting system environmental issues, training as required
Perform impact analysis of application changes across various components holding an end-to-end view of the system
Recommend integration and parallel testing criteria
This position may requires occasional travelling (dependent on scope/type of project)
To fulfill these tasks we are looking for a candidate who understands customers processes and products and how they fit within the goals of the business unit.
Furthermore you meet the following requirements:
BA/BSc (MA/MSc preferred) in Computer Science
Experience in application development / testing or business / system analysis or as an Application SME
Experience with Linux system administration (CentOS or RHEL preferred) and strong knowledge of UNIX
Experience administering and managing collocated servers including hardware troubleshooting
Good interpersonal skills as team member as well as towards internal customers
Structured Change Management methodology
Extremely detail oriented, with no fear of technical concepts
Experience administering and managing collocated servers including hardware troubleshooting
Experience configuring systems for use with one of the major database packages
Experience with systems management tools such as puppet or cfengine
Experience with VMware-based server virtualization for staging and DR
Experience maintaining Oracle installations, 11GR2 preferred
Experience with NIST, NISPOM, DoD, DCID, ICD certification and accreditation processes and tools
Experience configuring systems for use with one of the major database packages
Experience working in a Large Data Management platform
Strong documentation and communication skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Business fluent in German and English (Ability to take part in meetings and discussions and give information about own area of expertise)
Good understanding of Corporate insurance business would be an advantage
This job is a so called contract-to-perm position. This means that you work as a contractor for the first six month and after this period there is a chance that you get a permanent employment at our client.
