Sybase Database Administrator
On behalf of our client, a leading global company within finance, we are looking for a Sybase Database Administrator. For this contract position based in Zürich in Switzerland our client is looking for an English speaking candidate who can start as soon as possible.
Responsibility:
- Responsibility for technical management and coordination of issues and projects primarily involving installation, configuration and on-going administration tasks of mainly Sybase databases and partly MS-SQL databases
- Active participation in the resolution of system and performance issues
- Close working relationship with other team members locally and globally to provide understanding across all components of the database environments.
- DBA support for development teams and involvement in recommendations for new projects
- Additional function to provide advice and assistance in terms of developing and progressing the infrastructure environments, including the assessment of needs and recommend solutions in an Enterprise IT.
Must have skills:
- At least three years' experience of Sybase ASE database and Sybase Replication Server administration
- Financial industry experience
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
- Good SQL and basic Scripting language (Perl, Shell) knowledge
- Experience knowledge of Sybase Replication Server/Sybase IQ
- Experience with MS SQL Server
- Patrol and Control-M knowledge would be an advantage
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- High self-motivation
- Ability to work with minimal guidance
- Manage issues and problems through to resolution
- Willed to work in a shift-model
- Fluency English, preferably also in German
