DB2 LUW Engineer/Architect/DBA - Banking - Zurich

A DB2 LUW Data & Database Architect/Engineer is required for an initial 1 year contract at a large bank based in Zurich. The role will be to work on the buildout of a brand new data warehouse on which to implement new technologies. The ideal candidate will combine DBA, design, engineering and architecture experience as well as some knowledge of new technologies such as DB2 BLU and/or Hadoop and columnar-based databases.

The successful candidate will have the following experience:

  • Security Architecture experience
  • Database Engine in-depth especially in DB2 DPF (Database Partitioning Feature)
  • ETL tools - Designing and implementing ETL processes
  • Database Design Patterns - OLAP,DSS
  • Database Usage Methods - OLAP, DSS
  • New Technologies like Columnar based (DB2 Blu), Hadoop..
  • Data Storage Techniques. Defining database server IO profiles and mapping to storage methods such as DAS, SAN, SSD, RAID levels,
  • Database Optimization Techniques such as Partitioned Tables, Queues, SQL programming, Execution Plans, Data File management to support different usage,full range of Backup & Restore strategies, Indexes, XML optimization
  • Performance Tuning - Strategies for improved performance across the whole Performance Stack
  • Disaster Recovery and High Availability - Techniques such as Linux Clustering, Tivoli Storage Automation, HADR SAN Replication, Global Mirroring
  • Extending functionality, sometimes integrating with Legacy systems
  • Warehouse experience (Banking)
  • Experience with new Storage technologies like 'Flash storage', Storage tiring
  • Experience with Column based Databases like Terradata, Neteeza..
  • Programming (Perl, Shell)
  • Integration with External Applications
  • Capacity Planning
  • Dataflow analysis for performance improvement to reduce physical IO in a complex environment
