We are looking urgently for an experienced UNIX System Administrator for our client, an international bank in Zurich. As a member of the Swiss regional UNIX team you will be responsible for the operations of our client's regional and global Unix environment.
Further main tasks will be:
- lead and participate in infrastructure projects
- provide 3rd level Support of Sun Solaris/RedHat Linux distributed server environment (also during weekends)
- understand business priorities and set priorities of works
- drive for improvements (implement measures) on regional/global scale and drive the execution of innovative solutions
- communicate and collaborate with internal partners for designing, planning and coordinating for implementation and ensure work is completed in time
- write technical documentations for related infrastructure and installs which will include technologies as: Clustering, Filesystem, Volume Manager, Disksuite, ZFS, RHCS; OS: RedHat Linux, Oracle Solaris, Solaris Zones, VMWare, HW: Sun Fire and enterprise product line, Fujitsu Prime power series, HP DL Servers, IBM Blades and SAN/NAS storage.
Acting as a Subject Matter Expert on RedHat Enterprise Unix 3/5/6 you need these essential skills:
- ideally 5+ years of experience in supporting UNIX based distributed computing environment with massive number of Servers
- solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating systems both RedHat Linux and Solaris 8/10
- knowledge of virtualisation technologies (Vmware etc.)
- skills with (2 or more) of these particular products: Veritas foundation suite/Veritas Cluster Server/RedHat Cluster Server/Suncluster
- ability to write scripts in administrative languages (Tk, Perl, ksh, sh, csh, SQL)
- be familiar with networking or distributed computing, preferably also with storage environment technologies: LAN/WAN, routing protocols, NFS, DNS, NIS, LDAP, SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, etc.)
- similar experience in Banking environment will be an asset
- fluent English and German
We offer a 6-months contract (extension option given) and the opportunity to work in a complex technical environment within a prestigious bank.
