On behalf of our client, a global financial institution, Nicoll Curtin require a Senior Business Analyst for a long-term contract opportunity based in Basel.
The team is looking for a Senior Business Analyst:
- with proven business analysis, data and process modelling skills, ideally with solid technical experience (eg as a systems developer)
- with a strong vision for business intelligence, data governance and reporting frameworks and the stamina to promote them across business areas
The variety of the workload and the diverse user base demand an adaptable person with an eye for detail who is able to work independently and does not compromise on quality standards.
The role requires a mix of strategic thinking and hands-on work with business users.
Principal accountabilities:
- Manages small to medium-size projects: undertakes analysis of business requirements, extracts technological needs from users' requirements and translates them into detailed system specifications.
- Ensures that the design meets business requirements and that the stakeholders understand the benefits, drawbacks, risks, costs and time scales of design decisions.
- For designated systems, prepares system test cases and plans, and assists customers in preparing their test cases. Executes, records, analyses and reports the results of system tests.
- Ensures all appropriate system documentation is prepared and maintained in accordance with standards and conventions in place.
- Provides support for designated production systems.
- In collaboration with the lead for Collaboration and Operational Intelligence, manages Bank-wide user groups to promote and guide the evolution of business process management and Business Intelligence products (governance arrangements, roadmap etc).
- Contributes to the management of a pipeline of enhancements for business process management and Business Intelligence products.
- Contributes to the definition and deployment of a Business Intelligence strategy by advancing the Bank's intelligence technologies and related production systems.
Qualifications and experience required:
- Extensive experience in a senior business analysis role, ideally complemented with previous experience as a report/universe developer/analyst.
- Solid experience in business process and Datamodelling.
- Good knowledge of the SAP Business Objects product suite and of a business process management tool (ideally TotalAgility). External professional certifications a plus.
- Experience managing external service/software providers while ensuring strong knowledge and ownership of the product/service.
- Good knowledge of service-oriented architectures and web-services development a plus.
- Knowledge of change management and project methodology standards a plus.
- Experience managing large deployment and/or migration projects a strong advantage.
Skills required:
- Analytical, with good problem solving skills and root cause analysis approach; able to work both independently and in a team. Takes initiative for continuous service improvement.
- Very good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to establish strong working relationships with business areas and infrastructure teams.
- Ability to formally document and communicate complex business requirements and translate them into system specifications.
- Fluent in English (oral and written).
