Storage Area Network Expert

ROLE PURPOSE
Management and leadership for storage area network services for the global data centers in the Basel region. This mainly includes SAN architecture, support, storage area virtualization and storage area network daily operations duties.
- Design and review together with partners a 7x24h storage area network architecture for a large private cloud infrastructure and applications service.
- Work with partners operation teams to improve the quality and providing a high availability and efficient backup/restore design for application
- Coordinate all data centre storage customer needs and assess the risks on application level.
- Monitor and approve all storage releated service changes
- Monitor the compliance documentation together with quality manager
- Measure all storage service with partners and customers.
- Create a long term strategy and road map for data centre storage architecture
- Supports IT Infrastructure providers installing servers and storage with locating rack space.
-Enforces the implemented change management and security policy
- Support long distance solution in the storage area network (ex. DWDM)
- Supports contracted vendors doing maintenance at all critical support equipment.
- Enforces that equipment installed and connected according internal standards and guidelines.
- Supports the capacity manager with regular information about power, space and cooling conditions.
- Provides regular reports about storage area network, incidents, activity in the datacenter
- Maintains contact list to service providers including escalation information and escalation paths.
- Acts as a focal point for all storage management related topics including alarming, alert handling and resolving technical issues.
- Support Datacenter Lifecycle projects during planning and implementation.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Enforce defined storage area network policies for installations, security and capacity limits
- Create and maintain a strong partnership and ensure close cooperation between the respective customer , GIS Teams, Data Center Teams and Service Providers
- Serve as a point of contact and/or escalation for related requests for services, information or direction.
- Report DC status , security status and infrastructure capacity, including floor space for the global Data centers in the Basel region by utilizing provided tools
- Enable and enhance communications between GIS Data Center Teams cross Basel.
- Support the Datacenter Operations Manager with the creation and maintenance of the maintenance calendar.
- Is responsible that preventive maintenance is carried out as scheduled.
- Supports 7x24h service operations model
Minimum requirements - Education:
- Degree level education preferred in Computer Science or comparable education like electrical engineering and/or experience
- ITIL v3 or ISO 20000 experience and/or certification
- Languages: English is amust, German is an advantage
- Willing to work on weekends/evenings on exceptional base
Experience
- 7+ years of working experience, 3 of those years dealing with IT infrastructure, Storage Area Network consulting service
- Depth in knowledge in Brocade and IBM Technology
- Experience in long distance solutions with SAN DWDM Technology
- Experience of ITIL v3 process or ISO 20000
- Know how in ISO 27001 process and Encryption Technology
- Familiar with SOX, SAS-70 and FDA Standard
- Broad know-how of infrastructure services and data center technology in the area of servers, storage and backup.
- Broad know-how in Data centre virtualization technology example IBM SVC and VMware
- Proven experience in co-coordinating with multiple groups within the customer, within GIS and Service Providers
- Strong customer facing and relationship management skills
- Working within a serviced based organization with a customer facing role
- Experienced in coordination and in directing service providers
- Knowledgeable about systems validation and GxP practices
- Good written, presentation and verbal communication skills
- Customer and service orientated
