NextLink are currently working with a leading pharmaceutical organisation who are seeking a Virtual Reality Digital Biomarker Engineer and Analyst for their Basel offices on an initial 12-month contract.
We are looking for a skilled signal-processing engineer in the virtual reality domain to support a project in the area of ophthalmology. As part of a cross-functional team, you will be responsible for developing algorithms and analysis methods to identify meaningful signals from the different sensor streams provided by VR devices while a user is doing tests in the VR environment to assess different kinds of visual impairments.

Tasks & Responsibilities
• Support the data engineering and data analysis activities around the development of new clinical endpoints for ophthalmology based on AR/VR technologies
• Brainstorm, formalize and plan a data analysis roadmap capturing the requirements from different stakeholders in the project (clinical, regulatory, software development, etc)
• Implement the work packages in the roadmap to deliver results in a timely manner
• Leverage the high quality data to develop new clinical end points and compare them to current recognized gold standard
• Interact with stakeholders from different domains and with different background to guarantee the success of the project
Required Experience
• 5-8+ years of experience working on biomedical related data analysis topics
• Very good university degree in physics, mathematics, engineering, natural science or informatics
• Excellent understanding of the practical applications of 2D and 3D math (linear algebra, matrix multiplication, quaternions, etc.)
• Ability to understand and apply computer vision concepts (contrast, luminosity, etc.)
• Previous experience with augmented and virtual reality technologies / Previous experience with Unity of similar 3D engines
• Profound knowledge of Python or Matlab
• Quick learner, striving to gain a deep understanding of the domain and technology with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
• Self-starting and proactive team player with strong, collaborative and positive “can-do” attitude
• Working proficiency in written and spoken English
Preferred Experience
• Experience with CC++
• Experience with signal processing
• Experience working with 3D content and content creation tools like Maya, 3ds Max, Blender
• Computer gamer
• Experience with Agile Scrum environment
• Previous hands-on clinical experience with Multiple Sclerosis or in ophthalmology
• Good understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance implications (e.g. GxP, GDPR)
• Experience with remote patient monitoring
• Experience in experimental/clinical study design
