Global Communications Manager (m/f/d)

Main tasks:
  • Provide strategic support for global IHD patient advocacy 
  • Contribute to the global Patient Relations Strategy to build advocacy and strategic partnerships with patient organizations (PO) that differentiate NVS and maximize the patient involvement throughout the life cycle aligned with Global business objectives
  • Conduct environmental scanning of global and regional patient advocacy risks and opportunities relevant to specific disease areas within the franchise portfolio 
  • Identify manners to leverage disease specific efforts in support of broader Novartis patient advocacy goals
  • Align strategy and deliverables with communications, particularly on initiatives that are co-led by Communications and Patient Advocacy (PC and PA) and align strategy and deliverables with other cross-functional partners including marketing, medical, public affairs and patient access. 
  • Support integration of franchise patient advocacy work with broader Novartis PC&PA goals 
  • Support the execution of global patient advocacy initiatives in key countries 
  • Identify or contribute to creation of global patient advocacy/franchise deliverables that facilitate local teams in addressing needs 
  • Represent Novartis in external engagement with patient advocates, patient experts and patient advocacy groups in line with franchise strategic imperatives 
  • In collaboration with externally-facing franchise functions, including Social Media, Communications and Public Affairs, help identify and foster new opportunities for building mutually-beneficial relationships with patient advocates and patient advocacy groups 
  • Enable patient perspectives to be incorporated in the business and support the cross-functional execution of initiatives involving patients
  • Lead patient advocacy activities around priority disease areas
  • Partner effectively with related functions and business teams at global, regional and local level 
  • Manage stakeholders in key disease area and identify opportunities for further alliance building


Main qualifications
  • Ph.D/Masters in science, communications, law, public health policy, health economics, business administration or other relevant field 
  • Profound experience in the Pharma industry 
  • Profound roles in patient advocacy, communications or related role
  • Exceptional interpersonal and partnering skills with a strategic mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills is an asset
  • Proven ability to lead with high impact in a matrix organization 
  • Fluency (verbal/written) in English
