Software Engineer (Digital Biomarker/Scientific and Manufacturing)

One of our clients, a leading pharmaceutical company in Switzerland, is looking for a Software Engineer for a 12-month contract located in Basel, Switzerland.
Summary
My client is looking for a new contractor for a Digital Biomarker Program. You will establish processes and implementations to handle the big data collected from smartphones and other wearables in clinical trials to discover digital biomarkers.
Your tasks & responsibilities
- Implement signal processing and data analysis pipelines for processing large amounts of sensor data collected in clinical trials according to best coding practice
- Modularize existing signal processing and data analysis pipelines to enable reuse of pipelines across clinical trials by a large team of scientists
- Documentation of code used in pipelines
What you must have
- 2+ years professional software development experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or related technical fields
- Deep knowledge of Python and preferably one or more of the following programming languages: Java, C/C++, R and Matlab
- Previous working experience with the common Python data analysis stack (eg NumPy/SciPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, etc)
- Strong working knowledge of best coding practices (versioning, TDD, debugging)
- Experience in or eagerness to build ETL (extract, transform, load) data pipelines)
- Familiar with the Atlassian suite (Confluence, Jira, BitBucket, Bamboo)
- Strong analytical skills combined with conceptual thinking and structured working style
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural team
- Fluent in English
What is nice to have
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores
- Familiarity with UNIX/Linux internals and workload management systems (SLURM, SGE or UGE)
- Project-based work experience in the pharmaceutical industry/consulting preferred
- Experience with signal processing
- One additional language (German is a plus)
Overview
- Start Date: 03.06.19
- End Date: One-year duration.
- Work Location: Basel
- Work Load: 100%
- Remote: 1 day per week, prior approval needed
- Extension: Possible, but not approved yet
- Travelling: Limited travel, if the project requires, 0 to 25% possible (Europe & USA for meetings, conferences and workshops)
