For a project for our client, an international insurance based in Zurich, we are looking for several experienced
Data Engineer - Scala
In this role, you will be responsible for onboarding Commercial Lines Data to CI Data Lake, from different internal and external sources, following data quality processes and standards defined.
Your Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working as a Software / Data Engineer, preferrable within the insurance area
- 3+ years of expertise in functional programming with Scala, Apache Spark 3.0 would be an asset
- Understanding of distributed computation with a good business acumen
- Well versed in data administration and - mining, database design (physical), - development tools, and - structures
- Strong knowledge of ETL processes and information assurance
- Advanced level skills in Query and Database Access Tools and SQL Server
- Experience developing in cloud environments such as Azure, Amazon, or Google and scripting knowledge in bash or python would be advantageous
- Fluent in English
Your Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the transformation of (raw) data into useful formats for analysis and decision-support
- Designs and defines data architectures for ingestion, processing, and surfacing data for large-scale (enterprise) data-intensive applications
- Creates and selects database development tools
- Keeps documentation current (including change history)
- Implementing data solutions including interfaces (e.g. API, data warehouses) and makes the data available for reporting/ visualization functionalities
- Responsible for the management, maintenance, and development of such data solutions
- Provides regular and ad hoc data checks and reconciliation according to requirements and ensures it is produced to the highest standard
- Hands-on development and monitoring of the Azure cloud Platform and various associated components for data ingestion, transformation, and processing
- Designing and program writing according to functional and non-functional requirements
