Database Engineer vacancy requiring profound Postgres and Linux experience for a globally operating Zurich based company in the financial sector.Your experience/skills:
- 7+ years of professional work experience as a Postgres DB Engineer with software development
- Very good experience with Java, Python, Postgres and Linux (RHEL)
- Expertise in Elasticsearch, Splunk, Kafka, Spark, Apache Arrow, Presto as well as in deployment of cloud Postgres in Kubernetes or Openshift
- Proficiency in Database administration, Big data, DB setup, Import, Intr-source Data checks, and monitoring
- Languages: English, fluent in written and spoken
Your tasks:
- Designing, building, automating and deploying highly available, robust, resilient and secure database solutions
- Replacing existing Bash and Python scripts with a fault-tolerant solution that packages and moves files between servers while also implementing data backup and recovery procedures to prevent the loss of data from all types of failure
- Monitoring and maintaining maximum performance of databases while identifying poorly performing queries and designing and implementing new processes and procedures to reduce and eliminate database outages and downtime
- Contributing towards new and ongoing Technology projects in areas of Scalability, Performance and High Availability and Automation as well as working with multiple teams to make sure that the infrastructure and the applications that depend on it work harmoniously together
- Collaborating with Architects, performance engineers and system administrators on database and system optimizations
- Investigating production issues and performing root cause analysis while working closely with developers to design, create and maintain schema objects as well as to debug triggers
