For an international pharmaceutical institution in Basel we are seeking a highly motivated professional to take up the following challenge:
Senior Citrix Engineer (Contract) - 5709
Job Description
- Manage and troubleshoot virtual machine issues on VMWare ESX 6.5 as well as machines on PVS 7.9
- Supports NX in maintaining a highly available Citrix XenDesktop environment
- Supports NX in resolving environmental issues reported by Citrix users (tier-3 support) and work closely with the NX-Client technologies team to integrate operating system images into VDIs
- Architecting and implementing global Citrix environments
- Automate existing manual processes where possible eg. auto VDI creation/assignment triggered by request form/approval
- Ensure that the Citrix environment is monitored to ensure business continuity and is patched according to Citrix recommendations
- Report directly to the NIBR Informatics (NX) SharePoint and Shared Platforms team manager
Requirements
- At least 5 years' experience in administering enterprise scale Citrix environments
- Citrix XenApp 6.5
- XenDesktop 5.6
- XenDesktop 7.9
- Up-to-date knowledge virtual desktop and virtualized application industry trends
- MUST HAVE:
- Network Architecture (8+ years)
- System Design (7+ years)
- Experience with upgrading enterprise Citrix environments
- Excellent knowledge of the physical and logical architectures associated with enterprise level Citrix installations
- Excellent PowerShell Scripting skills (PowerCLI skills desirable)
- Ability to support Windows 7 and Windows 10 based VDI issues
- Previous experience working in global, complex organizations desirable
- Knowhow/experience with is a big advantage:
- Linux VDI (on Citrix)
- GPU accelerated VDI
- DaaS (AWS, Citrix Cloud)
- English excellent (MUST)
