Background:
For one of our clients in the financial sector we're looking for an experienced IT network engineer
Works as a member of a team whose primary responsibilities include to the design, implementation and maintain a secure, reliable converged network infrastructure.
Tasks:
Infrastructure services
Ensures best practice implementation of core server, networking and infrastructure application technologies.
Manages and evolves the existing technologies to ensure a secure, supportable and highly available environment
Responsible for providing a stable infrastructure, network, database and infrastructure application environment for a range of applications as assigned.
Infrastructure application services
Supports and maintains business-critical network infrastructure and their dependencies as assigned.
Flexibility and a desire to learn new technologies are essential.
IT Change and Release Management
Leads (tests, coordinates and implements) changes related to new releases or design changes to the environment, in cooperation with other internal teams and external service providers.
Project management
Manages and delivers IT projects – including the management of both project and operational budgets.
Vendor management
Supports the Head of Infrastructure Services and/or Senior Manager in ensuring that a vendor management framework is maintained.
Assists vendor owners in proactive vendor management, including deliverables, contract and SLA management, and contract and commercial negotiations.
Manages customer relationships with both external service providers and internal customers.
Secondary accountabilities
Provides backup for team members when required, involving infrastructure technologies, network technologies, database technologies, application deployment, mail systems and Active Directory, as applicable.
Qualifications:
Broad understanding of IT best practice, ITIL fundamentals and their application in a business environment.
Sound understanding of latest trends in technology, customer and vendor management.
Heightened cultural awareness.
Ability to negotiate effectively.
Practical experience participating in IT initiatives.
Formal project / programme management experience.
Creativity and ability to find innovative solutions to problems.
Strong customer management skills.
Understanding of and ability to follow change management procedures.
Excellent presentation skills
Initiative, drive and enthusiasm
Good overall knowledge of the dependencies and how they interact, eg with regard to the technologies involved in core server, networking, database and application technologies.
Ability to provide third-level support and design input in an enterprise environment.
Outstanding customer service skills with a proactive customer and service orientation
Strong communications skills to enable delivery of clear communication to different audiences, to manage customer expectations and service partner deliverables
Readiness to work outside normal working hours during service windows and to provide on-call cover for evenings and weekends.
Technical Skills
Checkpoint Firewall & Endpoint Security knowledge
Cisco based converged network infrastructure knowledge and experience
Broad IP F5 Load balancer knowledge
Experience in Vendor Management and Budget Control
Monitoring (preferred Cisco Prime, Microsoft System Centre, SCOM and/or Nagios (Linux))
University degree in computer science or related qualification
Very good command of English and German.
French, Italian and / or, Spanish is an advantage
