Roaming Tester - Core, Camel, IREG, Support, Troubleshooting, Engineer

The successful candidate is responsible for the restoration of faults with the Roaming Services of MO/MT voice, SMS, Data and MMS for inbound and outbound customers and providing updates on incidents to relevant stakeholders within the UK, Operating companies overseas and Roaming partners.

As a Roaming Specialist your main responsibilities will include:

  • Investigate inbound & outbound roaming faults in order to restore service for the customer using the relevant traces of MAP, ISUP, MNP, SCCP and IP - approx. 100 tickets a month
  • Work closely with Roaming Partners, 3rd party suppliers and element owners within 2nd line
  • Provide clear, concise communications to the stakeholders above at all times
  • Raise work orders/change requests to implement roaming partners IR21 changes of NDC, IP and GT on the network
  • Ensure all work is carried out and documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures
  • Prioritise and schedule incoming incidents and requests
  • Facilitate the resolution of incidents and work within cross functional teams when necessary to drive problem resolution
  • Deliver reactive management, responding to support requests, typically via WOW, Remedy, e-mail and escalations.
  • Occasional out of hours work on a rota basis to manage major issues will be an element of this role

As a Roaming Specialist your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • Good knowledge of 2G/3G/4G Inbound/Outbound Voice & Data Roaming call flows, International SMS, MMS & MNP and 2G/3G/4G, GRX, roaming service network architecture and service specific support tools (approx. 6)
  • Good knowledge of Camel
  • Knowledge of core switching network, including HLR's, MSC's, MGW's, SGW's, HLR
  • Knowledge of using network statistics, networks traces and drive trialling logs to analyse and improve network performance
  • Experience of IREG test cases and troubleshooting
  • Understanding of HLR profiles eg BOAC, BOIC, BOICEXHSC
  • Good knowledge of SS7 & Sigtran Protocols
  • Knowledge of EU Roaming Regulations beneficial
  • Experience of investigating roaming service issues & troubleshooting methodologies
  • Experience of using network statistics, networks traces and drive trialling logs to analyse and improve network performance
  • Strong communication (including presenting complex technical information in plain language) and decision making skills
