Technical writer - English - Basel area - Switzerland
NextLink is having an existing position as a Technical writer for global projects in Basel area, Switzerland.
General information:
- Start date: 28.08.2017 (as soon as possible)

- Work location: Basel area
- Workload: 100%
- Remote/Home Office: max. 1 day per week possible
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Determines the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for greatest reader comprehension and writes and edits technical information accordingly
- Meets with subject matter experts in order to ensure that specialized topics are appropriately addressed and discussed
- Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures and manuals
- Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
- Create tutorials to help Business Application Owners use a variety of applications (for test progress tracking etc.)
- Prepares or commissions graphics and illustrations to elaborate on or complement technical writing
- Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
- Create and maintain the information architecture
- Revises, edits, or updates instructions, technical information, and frequently asked questions as necessary
- Creates, adapts, and follows project schedules and deadlines
- Specializes in technical writing for one or more specific industries
Must Haves:
- Proven working experience in technical writing of concept documentation
- Excellent writing skills
- Business-fluid English, both verbal and written (as candidate is expected to independently create information material)
- Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
- Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
- Skilled at prioritization and handling multiple requests at the same time
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Office Suite
- Basic familiarity with Windows 10 in enterprise environments
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred
- Process oriented work required; implementation of solution in MS Visio or similar tools required
- Experience in defining and calculating KPIs for various levels of management
Nice to Haves:
+++ Previous experience in client rollouts (knowledge about what types of documentation are required for such a project)
++ ITIL or similar qualification
+ Spanish, German, French and/or Polish
