Lead Counsel 100% - Temporary (Maternity Leave Cover)Location: Zürich

ROLE PURPOSE
The lead counsel will be an important part of this team with the key objectives of:
- Providing legal services, amongst others, to clients from Company's divestiture related CMB.
- Being the Legal point of contact for such CMB related matters, including day to day advise and dispute management.
- Supporting other GMS-Business Development (BD) related projects, incl. contracts.
- Actively contributing to initiatives of Company's global manufacturing and quality lawyer network.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide advice on CMB and GMS-BD matters
- Act as interface to the Vaccines Unit
- Day to day legal counselling, drafting and negotiation of agreements in the context of business development activities, incl. also manufacturing or transitional services agreements tech-transfer or trial agreements, etc.
- Screen for contractual risks and manage all disputes with respect to third parties, e.g. CMB-partners
- Work in collaboration with colleagues from GMS, Procurement and the Legal Department, especially from the Corporate BD-Group
- On demand, coordinate and oversee cases with external law firms
KEY REQUIREMENTS.
- Fully qualified lawyer in at least one European jurisdiction, with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience
- 5 years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry
- Strong knowledge in Civil law and contract law
- Solid background on M&A and technical pharma agreements & good technical (manufacturing or cGMP) understanding
- Strong verbal and written communication, research, organisational as well as analytical skills
- Team player; Service minded and collaborative working style
- Strong communication skills, including convincing presentation skills, excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with an ability to influence others
- Fluent (spoken and written) in English, any further European language is an asset
- Practical and pragmatic business-oriented solution approach; flexible, decisive, assertive, proactive, committed and reliable
- Position could require approximately 20% travelling under normal circumstances.
