Service Description: Supporting services in the area of service architecture for the “Managed DBs” service regarding the PostgreSQL technology. The aim is the conceptual development and documentation of database solutions, taking into account the specified reference architecture and the end customer's specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Automating service creation for PostgreSQL (with vRA, SUMA)
2. Automating security patches for PostgreSQL (with PWS/Compass self-service and blade logic)
3. PostgreSQL authentication with AD accounts (Windows AD accounts)
4. PostgreSQL as a "Database as a Service" (DBaaS) (with Openshift, Kubernetes, and EnterpriseDB in the cloud environment)
5. Current analysis and implementation of specifications from the security concept for PostgreSQL
6. Creation of a backup concept for PostgreSQL (e.g. PiTR, online backup with the customer's backup tools)
7. Architecture and process-relevant service modules: Development of service modules according to customer specifications
8. Automation potential for managed databases: Identification of automation potential and implementation of automation for the “Managed DBs” service
9. Documentation of work results: Document work results according to the customer's specifications, supplement existing documents such as service description, security concept, implementation concept, and operating manual.
10. Documentation of the architecture modules: Document new or further developed architecture modules in accordance with the specifications and integrate them into the existing release and patch management process (managed DB operations manual)
11. Handover documents for operations: Create or adapt the specified handover documents according to the requirements for the operation.
12. Analysis of processes and workflows: Analyze the specific processes and workflows of the managed databases with regard to efficiency and technical feasibility. Suggested changes should be presented to the customer.
13. Modeling the changes in ARIS: Modeling the technical and procedural changes to the service managed databases in ARIS
14. Evaluation of new database products: Evaluation of new databases, preparation of a test environment, determination of manufacturer requirements, creation of test plans, execution of tests including documentation of results
15. Introduction of new solutions into regular operations: Integration of new solutions into regular operations, validation of the deployment concept including installation and configuration documentation, updating documentation in case of deviation from the original deployment concept as a decision template for possible evaluation.
Experience Requirements:
1. Experience with BSI IT-Security Standards (minimum 2 years)
2. Experience in complex IT enterprise environments in the PostgreSQL database environment including georedundant topologies (minimum 3 years – specify metrics regarding the size and complexity of the enterprise environment)
3. Experience in creating concepts (e.g. architecture concepts, information security concepts, design specifications, PoC result documents, technical support manuals, etc.) (minimum 3 years)
4. Experience in planning/conceptualization regarding PostgreSQL infrastructures in data centers including high availability, georedundancy, access control, backup, authorization concepts, identity management, data security, AD integration, encryption, and hardening measures (minimum 5 years)
5. Experience in planning/conceptualization regarding PostgreSQL as Database as a Service (minimum 1 year)
6. Automation/Scripting/Shell-Scripting, e.g. Shell, Git, SVN (minimum 3 years)
7. Experience with Incident, Change, and Release Management Tools, CMDBs (minimum 2 years)
8. Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SLES in enterprise environments (minimum 3 years)
