For our customer a big pharmaceutical company in Basel we are looking for a Genetics and Genomics Data Manager.
Background:
Roche believes that diversity in scientific thinking will produce innovations in healthcare so desperately needed by society. In that context, we have two large Research organizations. Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) and Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED). The PS BioX GnG (Genetics and Genomics) chapter is part of the Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) organization in the broader pRED organization. This chapter integrates technical expertise and biological knowledge to guide and execute genetics and genomics biomarker strategies in pre-clinical and early clinical programs. The scope is to develop, qualify, implement, and interpret results of genetic and genomic assays to inform e.g. on disease, patient stratification, MoA, target engagement, target link to disease, efficacy, and safety. PS BioX GnG collaborates with Disease Areas and Functions to provide state-of-the-art solutions that address Biomarker questions across the pRED portfolio. We enable decision-making in our programs supported by high-quality and FAIR biomarker data to ultimately match the right molecule to the right patient. On the gRED side, the Data Excellence function in Computational Catalysis (a pillar of gRED Computational Sciences) is a team made up of technical subject matter experts that drive and lead efforts related to data management, curation, data/metadata standards development and implementation, data sharing and reuse policies and strategies, and data culture and mindset. The two groups work closely regarding the ingestion and acquisition of Genomic and Genetic data..
The perfect candidate The pRED GnG chapter needs data management support for the following Ingesting high dimensional (-omics) data by FAIR principles Performing data reconciliation and data conformance checks Providing solutions that allow an overview of data we have and linkage to patients/samples The candidate will work closely with our gRED colleagues in Data Excellence to align on Roche-wide strategies and solutions. The ideal candidate is someone who has experience of having worked with genetic/genomics next generation sequencing (NGS) data such as whole exome, whole genome and/or RNA sequencing data. An understanding of the end-to-end flow- Patient- Sample- Assay- data is preferred. Working with global CROS / vendors / central labs is preferred. We seek an energetic and proactive individual who values the significance of data and embraces the principles of Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data. The ideal candidate possesses a proven track record in data management, demonstrating a keen eye for
detail and a passion for streamlining and automating processes. This individual should be comfortable and enthusiastic about collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, seeking holistic solutions that benefit the entire organization. Additionally, the candidate must excel in bridging the communication gap between data management and scientific teams.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Support ingestion of High dimensional Genomic and Genetic data on studies
* Work with gRED colleagues/PS BioX GnG scientists, CROs/Vendors to pre-align on data transfer requirements (e.g. Metadata requirements)
* Manually create or provide fit-for-purpose tools that allow an overview of what patients, samples we have data for in our repositories and thereby facilitating high dimensional data reconciliation possible at a patient or sample level
* Perform data reconciliation checks on samples and data
Must Haves:
* MSc, PhD or similar qualification in a data science discipline combined with a degree or significant research experience in biology (e.g., statistics/ biostatistics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, health economics, computational biology, computer science, mathematics, outcomes research, public health, biology, medicine, psychology)
* 3 + years of relevant industry experience or a role as a project manager in a multi-lab/research group academic collaboration involving significant data generation and data analysis components
* Project Management, Ability to work in matrix teams, strong communications, influencing, negotiation, and networking skills
* Data Management experience with genetic and genomic data or bioinformatics analysis experience
* English (Mandatory)
* Soft skills: Attention to detail, ability to articulate complex topics in simple words, flexibility to work across cultures and time zones, willingness to learn
Nice to Haves:
* Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.
* Working with global CROs and vendors for data ingestion and acquisition
* Understanding of end-to-end flow- Patient-Sample-Assay-data in clinical trials
* Experience with LIMS systems, Sample management systems and data management tools
