Our client plays a major role in the Belgian and European energy landscape, building sustainable,
green and reliable energy infrastructure. The company is seeking freelancers to work remotely and
locally on various national and international projects. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge
of French or Dutch is an advantage.
Main tasks:
The project engineer service will contribute to the electrical infrastructure projects (380, 220, 150, 70
and 36 kV) regarding high-voltage posts
As a Project Engineer you are the key figure between the project leader and the engineering firm
where you are responsible for the technical development of projects within a multidisciplinary team.
You guarantee the coherence and quality of the design and monitor the functionality of the project.
You take proactive measures to ensure that the project is delivered according to the planned
schedule and scope.
This includes, among other things, the following:
Working in close collaboration with the Project Leader and with fellow Project Engineers. The
Project Engineer has a technical focus, the Project Leader an organizational focus.
Key figure between the design team, the technical experts and the project
Involvement in the project from definition to closure: participation in the definition, study and
design of the projects. Assist the Project Leader with technical support during the implementation
phase.
Carrying out preparatory technical studies and guidance of the design team and responsible for the
qualitative implementation of the studies
Communication and reporting on project progress
The service is divided into different disciplines, each with their own technical specificity:
Substation with a focus on HV components within the substation
SecSys with a focus on protection and automation systems and Telecom
Lines with a focus on high-voltage lines and pylons for connections between substations.
Depending on experience, these tasks are performed independently or under supervision.
There is a very extensive training package within Elia.
The project engineer service will be active within the infrastructure projects department.
After the training period, the service can be performed two days a week via teleworking. The
projects and associated sites are divided into 3 geographical areas (“East & West Flanders +
Hainaut”, “Namur, Liège and Luxembourg”, “Antwerp, Limburg & Brussels”). The project engineer
service can therefore be optimally organized between the site sites (which must be visited in the
preparation and construction phase), the office (in Schaerbeek) and the home.
Service requirements
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or electromechanics or equivalent through
experience and strongly interested in technology
- Technical experience within the high-voltage domain is a MUST
- Perfect knowledge of Dutch or French. Knowledge of the other national language is an
important asset.
- Interest in the energy sector
- Strong sense of responsibility, clear organizational talent.
- Communication skills with smooth assertiveness and customer focus.
- Good teamwork with a good dose of ingenuity.
- Start and Duration: ASAP – 13 Months
- Volume: Approx. 100% (5 days/w)
- Work Location: Brussels, onsite
