For one of our clients in the insurance industry we are currently looking for a Data Engineer
- Start date: ASAP
- End date: 6 months with the possibility of an extension
- Location: Zurich (WFH is partially possible but only within Switzerland)
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze the new ingestion, modelling and serving requirements
- Effectively implement the new requirements in our repository
- Write clean code in Python (utilizing Apache Spark) that solves difficult problems elegantly and appropriately
- Work on wider design and implementation topics eg Datamodelling, Azure DevOps pipelines, Azure Data Factory
Essentials Skills
- Strong core Python software engineering experience
- A good understanding and significant experience with projects using relational data models and SQL
- A demonstrable experience building reliable and accurate data processing applications with Apache Spark and Delta Lake tables
- Value clean code practices and know how to develop reliable, robust and accurate software
- Use automated tests because you see and create value from them; not because you're asked to write them
- Not be solely "task-driven". You will look out for issues, and opportunities and address them when you can, raise them when you can't
- Be fluent in English and able to work effectively in person and remotely with other engineers
