Communications Specialist

Are you a Communications Specialist with at least 5 years experience in journalism, public relations, or a related communications field; Was this experience gained within a multinational and multicultural environment and are you looking for an exciting new opportunity within a non-governmental organisation (NGO)?

Experis IT Switzerland is currently on the search for a Communications Specialist to join one of their clients, an NGO, based in Geneva.

Your role:

The Specialist works with departments across the Client's organization, particularly with Grant Management, External Relations, Supply Operations, and Strategy and Impact, to translate the Client's COVID-19 positions and response into clear, consistent and easily accessible communications materials to help staff and partners communicate the Client's work both internally and externally across the Client's digital channels and with traditional and new media.

The Specialist works to further the Client's external communications strategy by positioning the Client as a critical partner in the global COVID-19 response among key audiences globally.

Key Responsibilities

The Communications Specialist will, under the supervision of the manager, be responsible for the following:

  • Developing editorial messaging to communicate the Client's positions and response to COVID-19, including producing and maintaining key messages and talking points
  • Collaborate closely with ACT-Accelerator partners on communications messaging, planning, products and media related to the ACT-Accelerator, particularly on the Diagnostics Pillar and Health Systems Connector
  • Produce COVID-19 communications products including the bi-monthly Client COVID-19 situation report, news releases, op-eds, blogs, publications and issue briefs
  • Together with Editorial, Marketing and Digital colleagues, identify and develop multimedia assets to amplify messages and impact
  • Proactively identify risks, challenges or opportunities that could be used as positive examples of the Client's work in internal and/or external communications, or that require crisis communications support, and collaborate with other communications colleagues to follow up.
  • Engage and leverage diverse voices across the Client's partnership to maximize opportunities across both traditional and social media channels.

To deliver the required results, it's essential that you have:

  • University degree in journalism, communications, public relations, international development or a related field.
  • At least five years' experience in journalism, public relations, or related communications field;
  • In-depth understanding of communications operations, principles and practices.
  • Experience working in a large, preferably global organization;
  • Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
  • In-depth understanding of international relations and development.
  • Experience working in a developing country would be beneficial;
  • Excellent written and oral French and English is required.
