Project content:
o Conversion of the entire application from the 4GL code generator CA Gen into native COBOL on mainframe z/OS
o Replacement of the code repository and software change management system Endevor with GitLab
• Project duration: Around 3 years
• Start of the inception phase: July 2026
• Scope: with more than 4,000 modules, over 31 million generated COBOL lines, and a very large number of interfaces to all surrounding systems, is one of the largest applications in the IT landscape.
• Governance: The overall initiative affects several CA Gen-based. The purely technical part of the code transformation will be entrusted to a large IT provider.
• Challenge: The project management team will be dealing with a large number of stakeholders in a complex environment. The Group program management, the providers responsible for the technical conversion, the SMEs from my team, additional internal and external experts, and the project managers of the other applications to be converted all need to be coordinated and supported. The role requires an extremely precise approach and meticulous planning.
