BACKGROUND & MANDATE

For our end client in the Swiss banking sector we are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer for the build-up of the GenAI platform.

The client is building an enterprise-wide GenAI platform. The work takes place in a DevOps team made up of data scientists, business engineers and DevOps engineers. The platform is in the build-up phase - what is needed is consulting and development, not the operation of a finished system. Infrastructure as Code is a consistent working principle throughout.

The role is responsible for the configuration and management of the Azure resources and the Kubernetes-based applications via Terraform, Helm charts and GitLab, automates build, test and release processes for GenAI applications in the sense of LLMOps, and sets up monitoring and alerting. In addition it contributes to technical concepts for new requirements - taking enterprise-wide and regulatory requirements into account - and supports the connecting client applications with integration, onboarding and operational issues.

One point deserves particular attention: the requirement form lists Python and Java skills formally only as desirable. One of the main tasks, however, explicitly calls for code-based implementations with Java, Python, XML and C# - for authorisation checks, logging, routing logic and guardrails validation. Without a genuine development component the technical interview will be difficult, even if the formal catalogue weights it differently.

MAIN TASKS

Configure and manage the Azure cloud resources - in particular API Management, Foundry, OpenAI, AI Search and Document Intelligence - as Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Helm chart and GitLab.

Provide and operate Kubernetes-based applications of the platform, for example Langfuse.

Automate the build, test and release processes for GenAI applications (LLMOps) for frequent and reliable releases across development, test and production environments.

Develop new and further code-based implementations with Java, Python, XML and C# - authorisation checks, logging and monitoring, routing logic and guardrails validation.

Contribute to technical concepts for new requirements and for the ongoing further development of the platform, including the alignment of databases, LLM models, further AI services, effort estimates and regulatory requirements.

Set up monitoring and alerting, for example with Grafana and Azure Dashboard, to safeguard stability and efficiency.

Monitor system performance, uptime and logs in order to detect and resolve problems early.

Support the client applications with conceptual questions, integrations, onboarding and operational issues.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

Azure services (client requirement): in-depth knowledge of Azure API Management, AKS, Azure Functions, OpenAI, AI Search, Document Intelligence, Azure Foundry and storage accounts.

DevOps toolchain (client requirement): solid knowledge of Git, GitLab, Docker and Terraform in order to provide and operate platform services to current standards.

Monitoring (client requirement): monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and Azure Monitor as well as logging systems and alerting to ensure high availability.

Development component: practical experience in Java, Python, XML and C#. Formally listed as desirable, in fact part of the main tasks - the role cannot be delivered without development experience.

Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Helm chart and GitLab as a consistent working principle, not as an occasional tool.

Seniority: senior level with five to eight years of relevant experience.

Regulatory awareness: the ability to take enterprise-wide and regulatory requirements into account in technical concepts and to align them.

Consulting: supporting client applications through integration and onboarding in a substantive way rather than just working through tickets.

Languages: German C2 (near native) and English C1 (CAE) - both mandatory.

NICE TO HAVE (relevant for evaluation)

Project experience with GenAI technologies, in particular retrieval-augmented generation and agentic AI, as well as in optimising GenAI solutions.

Developing concepts and architecture solutions and defending them towards IT security and domain architecture.

A solid understanding of authentication and authorisation via Azure Entra ID, RBAC and OAuth.

Experience with guardrails, policy enforcement and API policies in a regulated environment.

IMPORTANT

Remote policy: 100% on site at the client, 0% home office, depending on the project phase.

Extracts from the debt enforcement register and the criminal record are required (if resident in Germany, a SCHUFA report and a police clearance certificate are required).

Additional special rule on remote work: it is permitted only within Switzerland due to internal regulations and banking secrecy.

Swiss residence or a valid residence permit must be in place at the time the offer is submitted.

ZEK credit report required.
