There were several challenges contained within this role. The mains one being the Agile
coaching of the teams in best practices and the second one was the improvement of the
Test process. In this role I was responsible for establishing a test strategy that covered
several departments across the customer implementation group. I was responsible for
the introduction of standard processes and procedures across all departments. I was
responsible for the introduction of an automation policy across all departments. I was
also responsible for the test improvement process where all departments undergo an
audit and an improvement plan was implemented. I was responsible for all reporting to
senior management. I was responsible for the hiring and training of all test resources in
all departments. The scope of testing included Mobile app that run on both Smartphones
and tablets (Android, iOS and Windows), the REST API's to the backend components, the
backend web applications as well as the integration to external financial interfaces such
as VISA/MasterCard. The apps were mainly used for mobile payments (NFC, HCE, BLE) but
also contained features such as loyalty schemes and bonus campaigns. The outcome of
my activities was the significant improvement in the test process, efficiencies in the
incident management system as well as the increase in transparence and
communications between the teams.

Deutsche Telekom

The challenge in this role was to coordinate all of the testing activities for cloud services
division which produced a large number of applications including all of those that make
up the online portal but in a group not accustomed to working in an Agile environment.

I was responsible for implementing an Agile testing strategy into a company which has
been used to Waterfall methods in the past and ensuring that deployments to Production
happen on a weekly or bi-weekly cycle so that stakeholders can deliver new functionality
to the end customers within weeks as opposed to months in the past. The types of
testing carried out included Functional testing, Integration testing, E2E testing, Usability
testing, Payment testing, Security testing as well as load and performance testing. I was
responsible for an Automation project which targeted to automate at least 80% of the
manual test cases. I was the single point of contact between the various stakeholders and
the external vendors which supply the software and services from requirements
gathering up to and including final signoff of a feature before deployment into the
Production system. I was also responsible for the defect management which includes
prioritizing, scheduling and regression testing of patches etc. I was reponsible for the
management of all test resources across various SCRUM teams, including near-shoring
resources as well as partnering with the various software vendors to maximize test
coverage. These activities included daily stand-ups with the various groups within and
outside the organization. I was also responsible for the testing of various applications
(CRM, CMS, ad-hoc services) which interacted with the Portal system mainly over API. The
scope of testing included Mobile app that run both Smartphone and tablets (Android, iOS
and Windows phone), the REST API's to the backend components, the backend web
applications as well as the integration to external billing interfaces such as VISA/
MasterCard/PayPal/Click&Buy/Direct Debit/Telephone billing. When I left the role the
whole group was working in Scrum teams, including members from a near-shore partner




while working closely with the supplier as well as working with the supplier on a common
test framework.

Self employed

The challenge in this role was to introduce an iterative process within a company that was
used to developing firmware in a waterfall methodology. In this role I was the single point
of contact for an Italian company (ADB Broadband) at their most import customer in
Switzerland (Swisscom). I was the single point of contact for all pre/post sales activities
from requirements gathering to final sign off of each project. I was heavily involved in all
testing activities such as Functional Testing, System Testing, Integration / Interoperability
Testing, working with external partners; Customer trails as well as User Acceptance
Testing in the Customer Network. I was responsible for ensuring all issues/requirements
are tracked in HP Quality center (HPQC). I was responsible for introducing an Agile
strategy which enabled continuous deployment to the various environments so that
feedback could be given to development as early as possible once a feature had been
implemented. I was responsible for tracking and reporting progress of all projects using
tools such as HPQC. I also assisted all other customer projects in terms of requirements
gathering and functional specification production. The scope of testing was mainly
focused on the internet routers but also included end2end Mobile video streaming on
both Smartphone and tablets (Android, iOS and Windows phone). I was able to ensure
the smooth rollout of the product to the complete customer base.

NewBay Software

The challenge in this role was to Build up a Test group and develop a test strategy based
on the SCRUM for functional and non-functional testing in a start-up which was
previously a Professional services outfit attempting to become a software house
producing vanilla product with minimum customization. I had to perform a range of
activities to achieve this goal. Evaluate and introduce a test management system, defect
tracking system and test tools to provide trending/progress reports. Represent the test
group at a program level and senior management level. Plan, co-ordinate and develop
procedures for all test activities. Attend daily stand-ups and Scrum of Scrums where
lessons learned were exchanged. Develop procedures for all activities between the Test
group and other groups. Bring up to speed, mentor, and assess new/existing members of
the test group. Write/review/update Test Plan, Test Specifications, Test Cases and scripts
for the group. Plan/Procure/Set-up and maintain the Test Environments for multiple
products. Influence senior management on key decisions based on continuous reporting.
The scope of testing included Mobile app that run both Smartphone and tablets (Android,
iOS and Windows phone), the REST API's to the backend components as well as the
backend web applications. The apps aggregated Social Media content or were used to
store/manage backup solutions were developed and tested within my group and
provided to the Professional Services group for final customization to end customer
which meant a much more profitable business model.

ANAM Mobile

The challenge in this role was to Build up a Test group and develop a test strategy based
on RUP in a SMS messaging start-up. I had to perform a range of activities to achieve this
goal. Represent the test group at a program level. Plan, co-ordinate and develop
procedures for all test activities. Develop procedures for all activities between the Test
group and other groups. Bring up to speed, mentor, and assess new/existing members of
the test group. Write/review/update Test Plan, Test Specifications, Test Cases and scripts
for the group. Plan/Procure/Set-up and maintain the Test Environment. Develop and Test
a highly available system using Service Guard and RedHat Cluster Manager. Manage IOT




and CAT activities at Beta sites. Evaluate a tools based test process using tools such as
Mercury Test Director or Rational ReqPro. When I left the role there was a fully
functioning test group which was closely integrated with the Operations groups which
worked hand in hand for all product rollouts at customer sites across the world.

Logica CMG

Lucent

Address : Ballycoolin Industrial Park, Dublin, Ireland
The challenge of this role was to duplicate the testing system of the parent company at
the subsidiary in Ireland. I was also involved in the design of new test systems for
emerging products. This required me to come up to speed very quickly in order for me to
purchase, test and implement my design at various locations within the United States of
America and Ireland. The main benifit of my activities was the cost saving of
manufacturing and testing the product in Ireland as opposed to in America. Due to my
knowledge of the scripting languages and protocols involved I was instrumental in
making this project a success.

I was involved in the setting-up of all test beds, producing test plans from functional
specifications, writing scripts in order to conduct different tests and the automation of
such tests. While the whole system was tested End2End (this system consists of trunk,
modem gateway and management cards) the focus was on the E1 PRI and E1 R2 protocol
at all levels.
