We are looking for an Enterprise Backup Engineer to perform Netbackup administration, and support a migration to COMMVAULT Simpana.
You will be performing backup storage assessments, performance analysis, capacity planning, and disaster recovery planning. During 2015 the backup infrastructure will be migrated from SYMANTEC Netbackup onto COMMVAULT Simpana and support is required on the Legacy infrastructure to allow permanent staff to concentrate on new technology.
The primary focus here will therefore be the support, maintenance and administration of the Netbackup backup environments but does not exclude certain tasks and support activities on Sympana.
Skills Requirement:
- Solid understanding of offline storage fundamentals, concepts, and components with priority on NetBackup, ACS, Disc and tape libraries and deduplication. Sympana Adminitration/Support desirable.
- Solid Experience with UNIX (Solaris), Linux and Windows (W2008 R2) is required
- Must be able to evaluate the entity of incidents and outages.
- Tactical planning, analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to develop relationships with other teams (application, DB, etc.) local as well in other regions (global organization)
- Experience of large enterprise environments
- Solid spoken and written English
Duties:
- Second (SLS) level support, problem management investigating and resolving Backup/Restore problems and implementing solutions
- Plan, coordinate and manage large-scale backup changes
- Administer backup environments to monitor and manage enterprise data management processes
- Configure and manage backup infrastructure including tape libraries and disk based backup targets
- Monitor backup processes and errors to ensure overall system performance, health and stability
- Perform routine operational backup administration duties including troubleshooting of issues, backup optimization as required.
- Analyze problems and make decisions to remediate backup issues
- Perform incident and problem/change management
- React and respond to day to day incidents and changes related to backup administration, including but not limited to disk space, data backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and failed backups.
- Manage daily backup status reports
- Participate in 24/7 On-Call rotation.
- Review and Sign-Off documentation of day to day operational procedures.
