For our client in Bern we are looking for a Software Engineer Java on Contract Basis

Your responsibilities:

  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
  • Assure high quality of work products according to customer requirements in the committed time
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met
  • Design, develop and modify software systems, using OO Analysis, OO Design with UML and J2EE technologies
    As the ideal candidate you have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Strong Java programming skills (Java 6)
  • Strong understanding of the JEE technologies (JEE 5, EJB)
  • Hands-on experience with Service Oriented Architectures, particularly w. Web Services
  • Commitment to & experience with test-driven development (JUnit, Continuous Integration, )
  • Experience with Eclipse & Subversion
  • Strong understanding of relational database design
  • Strong adherence to standards in the area of Java, JEE, Guidelines, Architecture
  • Strong commitment to test-driven development (JUnit, Continuous Integration)
  • Fluent written and spoken German
  • Good written and spoken English
  • Strong soft skills to handle stakeholders with different background (Requirement engineers, Project leads, Programmers, Offshore resources, Testers etc.)
  • Strong ability to work both independently and integrated in a project team
  • Good time-management
  • Experience in application development projects following incremental and iterative approaches (RUP, Agile)
  • Good understanding of Patterns (Design)
  • Strong understanding of OO Analysis, OO Design with UML
  • Experience in Credits domain, Risk Management
  • Motivation to contribute software improvements in an interesting environment experience in banking or finance industry
  • Experience with workflow, particularly with workflow automation/straight-through-processing
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent training required
  • 5 or more years' experience in Java/JEE engineering in application development projects
