Senior Sybase Database Administrator
Our client, an international financial services company, is currently looking for an experiences Sybase DBA.
Description:
- Responsibility for technical management and coordination of issues and projects primarily involving installation, configuration and on-going administration tasks of mainly Sybase databases and partly MS-SQL databases
- Active participation in the resolution of system and performance issues
- Close working relationship with other team members locally and globally to provide understanding across all components of the database environments.
- DBA support for development teams and involvement in recommendations for new projects
- Additional function to provide advice and assistance in terms of developing and progressing the infrastructure environments, including the assessment of needs and recommend solutions in an Enterprise IT.
Required skills & experience:
- At least three years' experience of Sybase ASE database and Sybase Replication Server administration ideally within the financial sector
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating system
- Good SQL and basic Scripting language (Perl, Shell) knowledge
- Positive is experience knowledge of Sybase Replication Server/Sybase IQ
- Experience with MS SQL Server
- Patrol and Control-M knowledge would be an advantage
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- High self-motivation
- Ability to work with minimal guidance
- Manage issues and problems through to resolution
- Willed to work in a shift-model
- Fluency English, preferably also in German.
