For a global bank based here in Zurich we are looking for a Sys Amin contractor to join the team.

The Job:
- The System Administrator is responsible for administering, maintaining, enhancing and implementing system changes from small components, to entire complex systems infrastructure, adhering to the established industry standards.
- This also involves monitoring and controlling the performance and status of the infrastructure and the physical computer equipment on which systems and applications operate.
- This role ensures that the operation of the infrastructure is in accordance with established procedures and practices.
- Whenever infrastructure availability, integrity or performances are compromised, the System Administrator will ensure that prompt and competent action is undertaken.
- This role will work with other technical teams in the support and enhancement of the core infrastructure to ensure better reliability and resilience, whilst at the same time making the environment more cost effective.
- This may include making recommendations about enhancements to the existing infrastructure.
- Director and Executive Director System Administrators will be expected to have significant enterprise stack expertise in one or more technical areas and be responsible for mentoring and delegating work.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Clustering, Filesystem, Volume Manager, Disksuite, ZFS, RHCS
- OS: Redhat Linux, Oracle Solaris, Solaris Zones, VMWare
- HW: Sun Fire and enterprise product line, Fujitsu Prime power series, HP DL Servers, IBM Blades and SAN/NAS storage. In particular SAN/NAS and file system
- Scripting with Perl and Shell. You will have to modify scripts
Anything else? ...
- you will have to work the odd Saturday
- ideally you have some Project Management experience as the main PM is not local
- our client is migrating from SAN to SAN and a bit of NAS to NAS so filesystem is key
- the contract is for 6 months and you could get a 3 month extension
