A Business Analyst is required to work with us as we drive our work to translate the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision principles for effective risk data aggregation and risk reporting (BCBS 239) into specific actions and deliverables for execution in 2014 and 2015. Specifically, we require analyst capabilities to assist us with the articulation and documentation of an overall data strategy underpinning the BCBS principles across all risk categories and to carry out a detailed map and gap exercise to determine the steps required to achieve compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordination and execution of detailed analysis on the "data strategy" for each of the risk categories (Market Risk, Credit Risk, Country Risk, Issuer Risk, Operational Risk, Investment Risk, Pension Risk, Liquidity & Funding Risk) across all relevant business divisions. This will involve working with IT and the relevant Subject Matter Experts in Risk, Finance and Operations in analysing and capturing of:

o All relevant non-Risk owned and Risk-owned data "domains"
o Golden sources for each data domain per division, highlighting any gaps where golden sources are not known
o Status of integration of standardized data deliveries from golden sources into the Risk infrastructure
o Status/maturity of controls and data quality metrics and highlighting of any gaps/mapping to ongoing workstreams
o Status of documentation eg data dictionaries, feed specifications
o Status of alignment (eg to Finance) of sourced data

  • Consulting with IT as they drive out and document the overall strategy, gaps and roadmap to become BCBS 239 compliant for each risk category (Market Risk, Credit Risk, Country Risk, Issuer Risk, Operational Risk, Investment Risk, Pension Risk, Liquidity & Funding Risk) including:

o Collection/documentation of current state and target state architecture
o Working with the SMEs to articulate current gaps versus the principles and elaboration of actions/steps required to close out
o Driving out of delivery roadmaps with IT showing timelines for addressing key gaps
o Highlighting of key execution challenges

  • Assistance with completion of BCBS questionnaire (for completion end May 2014)

o Collecting and articulating responses ensuring coverage across all risk categories and alignment to the work done to date
o Consolidation of detailed action plans into overall responses for the questionnaire
o Driving the circulation of and agreement to the responses with the key stakeholders

  • Consulting with the IT Program Integration Office team as they drive out a comprehensive Data Strategy document (for completion end June 2014) including:

o Providing input into the overall structure of the document
o Working with all impacted teams to agree the content and structure
o Providing the detailed content and the commentary required for the document and coordinating with other key contributors
o Driving the circulation of and agreement to the document with the key stakeholders

Key Deliverables:

Documentation of a detailed data Matrix for all risk categories
Documentation of a comprehensive data strategy leveraging the data Matrix (jointly with IT)
Documentation of gaps to the BCBS principles and action plans to address (jointly with IT)
Completion of BCBS questionnaire
Recommendations for improvements, solutions and respective implementation plans in close cooperation with our IT delivery teams
