As an AIX Power Systems Specialist/Administrator with long-term experience in the AIX area your main responsibilities will be:
- AIX 3rd level support & engineering
- Release management
- Performance & problem analysis and project support in different areas
- In special situations or special activities 7x24h on call or weekend support
- Monitor/watch market and technology trends
- Evaluate and test new technology's, manage projects and proof of concepts
- Support architecture & design
- Preparing new AIX and other software builds
- Manage the release dates and end of life dates
- Manage the build worldwide on all AIX
Main Activities
- Review todays architecture in comparison to other installations (NIM, CSM,VIO, VM, Security, Storage)
- Scripting (ksh, Perl) of operational relevant scripts and 'adhoc' monitoring
- Partial System monitoring, incident and problem reporting, escalation (3rd level support)
- System configuration, capacity reporting/planning, performance management (together with operations & database engineering)
- Design, Setup and configure VIO Servers according customer needs
- Emergency out-of-hours cover
- Support service delivery in IPL, PTF planning & installation
- Support service delivery in system & storage setup installation/upgrades
- 2nd & 3rd level system support
- Engineering activities in the area of packaging and platform testing
- Architecture & Design for Backup & Restore procedures
- Documentation and provide process optimization suggestions
- Support all relevant engineering CtB (change the bank) and RtB (run the bank) activities
- Engineering for System monitoring, incident and problem reporting, performance problem handling/solving, escalation
- Manage/Maintain config settings/parameters
- Optimizations/Evaluating/Testing of Perf-/Cap tools
- Generating regular automated/requested reports
- Collaborating on projects
- Continuous improvement of the systems
- Close involvement/co-operation with global clients & colleagues
- Support running automation efforts
