Randstad IT Professionals is actively looking for a Support Engineer for one of our major clients, a renowned bank based in Zurich.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Operations Support Engineer is a versatile and highly motivated individual who supplies front line technical support and responds to our business customer needs. As an Operations Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing escalation of technical and developer support for production issues. Being a vital part of the Production Support team involves working on highly complex systems and providing general technology support services for both internal within department and external for our business clients, ensuring overall customer satisfaction and total resolution of each support incident. Your role as a production support professional will be to identify the issues, address them using the technical expertise and also share them with other Treasure IT team members.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Operations Support Engineer will play an integral role within the existing Operations Support Team.
Specifically s/he will be responsible for:

  • Managing resolution of technical issues for multiple applications on different layers.
  • Coordinate resolution with various team members for majority of the issues, analyze root cause and assist in efficient resolution of all production processes.
  • Troubleshooting many application issues. Issues to be resolved require a broad range of troubleshooting skills related to: software functionality, application environment setup, database management, data analysis, and third party products (Oracle, Informatica, Java, Unix)
  • Providing excellent support in communicating and reporting all the encountered issues, responsive follow through, and advocacy for client issues within internal departments.
  • Prioritizing numerous issues of varying severity, and effectively manage the resolution of all issues within accepted service levels.
  • Collaborating extensively with peers, Requirement Engineers, Business Analysts and Operations Staff to resolve client issues while actively contributing to a growing knowledge network that improves the effectiveness of our team and the information available to our clients.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATION

  • Experience in corporate industry dealing with issues and their resolution.
  • Familiar with Oracle database and general database concepts.
  • Experience in data analysis.
  • Strong SQL skills with some PL/SQL knowledge.
  • ETL skills which includes ability to read and understand Informatica mappings.
  • Familiar with programming concepts and knowledge of Java 2 Language.
  • Excellent knowledge of UNIX commands.
  • Familiar with UNIX Shell Scripting and ability to read and apply modifications.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills in English (German is a plus).
  • Strong team player who enjoys working in a fast paced atmosphere.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, commitments and projects.
  • Self motivated, directed and passionate about what you do.
  • Must be able to work occasionally outside business hours.
  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related engineering/science fields.
  • 3-5 years of experience in engineering, engineering support, or technical support environment or equivalent consulting experience.
  • Prior technical experience is a must.
  • Any Certificates related to the required skills is a plus.
