Scientific Applications Developer

Edelway AG is a Swiss IT Services Consultancy. The Research organization of our global pharmaceutical client based in Basel is currently looking for an English speaking Software Engineer to design and develop proper applications and tools to support and advance the Next Generation Sequencing Domain.

THE ROLE
*Work as a key member of the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) LIMS development and support team
*Work with lab users to define NGS LIMS & workflow requirements
*Design and implement LIMS/workflow execution support from sample accession through NGS analysis
*Modify and update NGS LIMS & workflows based on protocol improvements or new requirements
*Work with analysis team to build NGS Metadata repository and Search Tool and integrate with NGS LIMS
*Follow agile practices for software version control, testing and release engineering
*Provide status updates in regular team meetings
YOUR PROFILE
*B.S. in Computer Science or a related scientific or technical field (or equivalent experience) with a minimum of three years of software application development experience in a scientific environment
*Experience working closely with end users and providing assistance to debug problems in production environments
*Demonstrated experience with Python, JavaScript and Java
*Demonstrated experience with Linux (Shell Scripting)
*Demonstrated experience with database programming (SQL, PL/SQL), modelling and interfaces, preferably in Postgres and Oracle
*Used SVN, GIT or similar version control systems
*Demonstrated experience with software life cycle tools, continuous integration, source control, test coverage, code review etc.
*Commercial LIMS experience a plus
