VMWare Engineer needed for a 6 months on going contract with a large investment bank. The position is within a global engineering department and we require people with a proven background in build design, automation and Scripting. The ideal candidate will also have project management experience and excellent communication skills as the role has a large amount of customer contact.
Ideally you will have previously implemented a VMWare platform into a large corporation (preferably a financial organisation), you will be focussed on design and engineering and not production support.
You will be responsible for:
- Assessing how business requirements can be met using virtualization technologies
- Evaluating and testing new versions of virtualization software and associated management tools
- Integrating virtualization products with other software and services to provide end to end customer services
- System design and specification documents for virtualization-related elements of the new compute platform
- Tested releases of virtualization software and associated management tools
Required skills for the role:
- University degree in an analytical discipline
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Broad understanding of IT architecture and infrastructure
- Expert in VMware technologies especially Virtual Center
- Expert in writing code against the VMware API and SDK
- Expert in writing code such as Windows Services and GUI using C#/VB.NET
- Working knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux
- Self-motivated
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic project management skills & experience
- Ability to document engineering results and recommendations for peer groups as well as senior management
