Edelway is a Swiss IT Services company.
Our global banking client in Geneva is now looking for an experienced Database Administration Specialist (English speaking) to join its team on a long term basis.
This is a long term opportunity; we can offer either a permanent or a freelancing contract.
Only English is required.
Start date: ASAP
As a Database Administration Specialist you will be responsible for managing, maintaining and developing the database infrastructure for EMEA and Asia to ensure 24x7 up time.
A Database Administration Specialist will be expected to give guidance and support within the team, to other segments takes internal escalations and deal with escalations from any of our internal clients.
There is a requirement for a great deal of communication in this role with internal customers and senior leadership and the ability to explain complex issues to business users.
He/she must plan and perform regular infrastructure maintenances, with strong risk assessment skills being essential. He/she will be expected to work on projects while continually working on improving existing solutions as well as the infrastructure as a whole. Other regular functions include performance analysis, customer implementation architecture and design architecture for new applications.
The Role:
Key Accountabilities
*Monitors and maintains infrastructures for all customers in EMEA and Asia, and work with vendors to resolve issues.
*Mentoring and working as part of a close knit team
*Demonstrates leadership in attitude and demeanor
*Troubleshoots issues and work with internal customers to effectively resolve them
*Produces effective analysis on solutions
*Is involved in pre-implementation and support of new applications.
*Works infrastructure tasks and tickets.
*Plans, implements, and supports database infrastructure including out-of-hours on-call support.
*Stays current with emerging technologies related to respective technology domain.
*Works closely with other AMIT and Operate teams
*Work with the Global counter-parts to create, implement and maintain best practices
*Executes regularly required maintenances for patches and upgrades, etc
Role Dimensions:
*Part of a close team of up to 6 Database Administration Specialists
*Supporting Production, UAT, SIT and Development environments for a broad range of applications
*Touching multiple database platforms (Sybase, SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2)
*Very results oriented for productivity and quality in a fast-paced environment.
Your Profile:
-Solid experience on most or all of the following products:
oMicrosoft SQL Server 2008,
oOracle 11,
oSybase ASE 15.x,
oSybase Replication Server 15.x
-Advanced knowledge of Shell Scripting (ksh) and/or Perl
-Advanced knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting, testing, and performance tuning
-English fluent
