On behalf of our client, a leading multinationalfinancial services company, Swisslinx is looking for a solid MS SQL 2008 DBA to join a database team within IT Operations.

In this role, you will be joining a team of SQL Server and Sybase specialists who looks after around 1000 SQL instances with around 6000 SQL databases within IT Operations. Additionally, the team participates in projects and therefore works closely with the storage and other teams in order to implement Windows & SQL Server Clustering on Windows Server (VERITAS; SAN/NAS Storage).
Your tasks will include a versatile set of tasks which are geared to ensure the operations of our client's large database environment with a strong focus on installations, configurations and on-going admin tasks of SQL Server DBs.
This includes:
- Active Participation in the resolution of system and performance issues
- Close working relationships with other team members locally and globally to provide understanding across all components of the database environments
- DBA support for the development teams and involvement in recommendations for new projects
- Additional function to provide advice and assistance in terms of developing and progressing the infrastructure environments, including the assessment of needs and recommend solutions in an Enterprise IT environment
Depending on the individual skills on the candidate, She/he can also participate in tasks/projects related to Sybase and/or the installation and configuration of SSRS, SSIS and SSAS.
In order to be considered for this position, we are looking for a highly professional, dynamic and driven individual with solid interpersonal skills and the following qualifications:
- Min. 5 years of experience as MS SQL Server DBA,
- Solid infrastructure knowledge; especially with Windows & SQL Clusters on Windows Server , ideally using VERITAS Clustering and Volume Manager and SAN/NAS Storage
- Experience with Sybase ASE is an asset; willingness to learn required.
- Experience with MS BI Suite and Scripting languages (Perl, Shell) is a plus.
- Previous experience in large data environments
- Very good English skills; German is beneficial
