Lead SQL Server Database Administrator
On behalf of our client, a leading global company within IT, we are looking for an experienced Lead SQL Server Database Administrator For this Contract position based in Basel in Switzerland our client is looking for an English speaking candidate who can start as soon as possible. Your main responsibilities will be;
Database configuration & Administration
- Internal parameter configurations
- Backup/recovery configurations
- HA configuration implementation (Instance Load-balancing, cluster maintenance)
- Monitoring tool installation and configuration
- Database startup/shutdown
- Database moves (Host to Host)
- Database copies/Refresh (Prod to Dev, QA)
- Database Refresh (Partial)
- Database upgrades-minor
Security
- Database auditing (compliance reports)
- SOX Compliance
Event and Fault Management
- Coordinate with database vendors for resolution
- Support application support/development teams
Capacity management
- Metrics Collection Design
- Trend Analysis and recommendation
- Database/SGA sizing
- Capacity Planning
Database Maintenance/Housekeeping
- Database reorganization planning
Performance Tuning
- DB Performance Monitor/Tuning reports
- Parameter tuning
- I/O tuning
- Advanced DBA Activities
- Security Implementation
- Administer 3rd Party DBA Tools
- Primarily role is supporting the production and development SQL databases
- Provide on call support for databases
- Log, Job Queue Management
The skills and experience needed for this position are;
- SQL Server database administration experience. Experience in other version also preferred.
- Install, configuring, applying patches to SQL server
- Backup and restore of databases.
- Performance tuning experience.
- Experience in DTS Packages
- Strong Experience in Replication, Log shipping and Clustering
- Logical and Physical database design and Implementation
- Application DBA Exposure
- Development support/debugging procedures
- MSSQL DBA Certification a plus
- Win NT/ administration experience is desired.
- Good Oral and Written communication skills
- Basic DB Scripting
- Should be able to support SQL database
- Exposure to Oracle will be an added Plus
