Technical Architect as Virtualization Engineer - VMWare, ESX, Cisco, Cloud - pharma, 6months
Virtualization Engineer to be part of a team to enhance and implement Virtualization service.
Consult with and make recommendations to Architecture Team, Service Manager, and Project Teams on design solution of the project tasks.
Create new system recommendations to meet requirements, including the system configurations and installation planning.
Provide technical recommendations regarding Cloud computing: specifically automation, self-service portal and charge back.
Coordinate with operational support lead to ensure implementation details are transferred to operations staff.
Technical Skills Required
Strong knowledge of VMWare products, specifically including ESX version 4.x and 5.x
Experience implementing VMware Site Recovery Manager
Experience implementing and support VMware VCOPS or similar performance monitoring tool
Ability to perform project work and server builds in a fast-paced environment
Experience with Cisco UCS or Vblock technologies
Installation and configuration of ESX hosts
Strong knowledge of Server OS support (Windows and Linux)
Achieve agreed targets in terms of quality, time and cost.
Implement strategies to allow ongoing operational upgrades and ever-greening of technical solutions
Ensure that the system remains qualified and that all new processes go through a proper vetting as determined by quality management.
Adhere to VCE (VMWare/Cisco/EMC) best practices whenever possible to ensure operational integrity.
Capable of taking technical lead role
Ability to collaborate with other resources, acting as subject matter expert for cloud based computing.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
University working and thinking level, degree in computer science or comparable education/experience
VMware Certified Professional 4 or 5 - preferred
Cloud (VCP-Cloud) - preferred
Technical Engineer familiar with VMware vSphere best practices
Experience in a highly regulated IT Environment.
Implementation experience with VMware vCloud Director (VCD), Automation tools, self-service portal and charge back.
4-5 years of VMware Administration experience.
At least 3 years experience in infrastructure architecture and design of complex distributed systems environments, including failover techniques, recovery/rollback, and application partitioning
At least 2 years experience in a technical lead role for small- or medium-size teams
Strong practical Linux or Windows Server systems administration skills
Basic knowledge of Service Management (ITIL) through experience or certification.
Excellent Communication Skills
Proven capability and experience in leading projects and resources
English (written and spoken) required
Project: 6 months or longer
