Sybase/MSSQL SpecialistOur client, an international Global IT player, has an open role for a Senior Sybase/MSSQL Specialist consultant for a 9 months fixed term post based in Zurich.
Role:
- Providing level 3 specialist support for the Sybase environment in Switzerland and globally
- Working in a local and global support team of database administrators
- Working together with developers other distributed systems teams (eg. Unix)
- Solid work experience as a Sybase specialist, up to and including Sybase ASE 15 and Sybase Replication Server 12.6 Sybase I
- 5 years of experience in Sybase ASE installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, database migrations, backup, recovery and maintenance proficiency with Sybase DBA tasks as well as with SQL commands to develop stored procedures and triggers Sybase IQ
- Good knowledge of Sun Solaris O/S/Linux and Unix Shell script programming
- Experience participating in documents review and testing application code in a test environment
Requirements:
- SQL Server 2005/8 exposure to 2012 preferable
- Performing all standard production services DBA activities including installation, performance tuning, backup and recovery
- Microsoft SQL Server Production Database Administration.
- Clustering, replication, Database mirroring and Log shipping skills
- Microsoft Windows 2003/8
- Extensive SQL tuning skills.
- Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory architecture
- Extensive MS Business Intelligence suite know how
- Database installation, monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of backup and recovery solutions including lightspeed
- Full understanding of RFS, Incident and change management service delivery principles (ITIL)
- Commercial experience in a production and global financial organisation
- Support for 24/7 on call rota
- MCP and other MS certifications desired
- Pro-active and Strong communicator.
- Be able to prioritise your own workload and work with minimal supervision.
- Fluent English a must and German beneficial
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills
