The transmission planning & optimisation engineer is responsible to monitor and improve the performance of the transmission network (metro and access layers) by constant design optimisation actions through quality enhancement projects (SDH/PDH design enhancement, traffic aggregation ) within the main target of maximizing the cost/quality ratio.

1) Duties and Responsibilities:
o Contribute to the elaboration of the mid to long term transmission architecture evolution plan, based on technical and economical analysis of specific technologies and network needs. Investigate on the network area he/she is in charge of, possible application/improvement of new transmission solutions.
o Develop or contribute to the access transmission design guidelines (rules for planning, design and deployment of transmission solutions on the access network) and present the new rules to planning and maintenance team for correct usage.
o Lead or participate to transmission design optimisation project, in order to maintain the cost and quality levels according to agreed standards. Provide capacity planning on backhaul and backbone transmission network for the technology she/he is in charge of.
o Define, Validate and Implement transmission solutions on, using all technologies introduced by the Transmission Architecture & Design team
o Perform the Transmission capacity monitoring and upgrades of access network, in coordination with rollout planning teams. Support Planners, validate all transmission solutions recommended by planning team (rollout), and coordinate their implementation.
o Design authority on transmission requirement for rollout. Implement, monitor and report on transmission service quality KPIs with Engineering Support.
o Act as main interface to local Operation team and support it in problem solving related to TX access network.
o Design, plan and manage the implementation of new design enhancement (SDH rings; LL swap, MW upgrades, transmission hub implementation) respecting the planned budget, time scheduling and quality frames. Coordinate actions with local subcontractors and report project evolutions.
o Introduce new technologies as optimisation solution on the access network (ATM concentrator, IP backhauling, DSL backhauling)
o Support the development of transmission planning tools
o Transmission Planning & Optimisation Authority on Metro and Access layer
o PDH/SDH Transmission Capacity Upgrades authority
o Find innovative technical solutions for the network

2. Profile Required
a) Mandatory Requirements:
o Engineering degree or equivalent
o Minimum 3 years experience on transmission network (planning, design and implementation)
o Good knowledge of GSM/GPRS, UMTS mobile networks and their transmission requirement.
o Experience developped in project management and network rollout
o Be a Team player
o Very good oral and written communicaiton skills in English. French or German is an asset.
