Web Applications Engineer - Python - framework - web development - Pharma - Switzerland
Web Applications Engineer with strong experience required, to work on a project within a major pharmaceutical in Switzerland
Main Tasks:
- As a Field Software Applications Engineer in the Chemical Information Systems group, you will work closely with developers and scientists to understand the requirements and use cases to develop web applications and web services supporting scientific workflows.
- Play a key role in the development of Web-based software modules to manage chemical data and processes.
- Port existing software tools to a modern web framework (Django).
- Understand and document customer requirements, use cases and priorities.
- Conduct trainings, demos and interface with users across the organization to drive adoption of product features while providing technical support.
- Interact with remote teams, resolve issues and escalations.
- Document and develop functional, design, and unit test specifications.
Main Skills:
- Qualified candidates MUST have experience developing in Python using the Django web framework.
- BS EE/CS/mathematics or equivalent experience
- 3+ years experience in software development
- Experience closely interacting with customers throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Development experience with Python, Django, and jQuery.
- Experience in databases, data structures, and web services.
- Experience in cheminformatics software like the RDKit, OpenEye, or OpenBabel is a big plus.
- Experience in Scientific Informatics, Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics, or in any pharmaceutical research environment is a plus
- Highly motivated team player
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self motivated results oriented person with a delivery focus
Location: Basel - Switzerland
Duration: 14.5.2012 to 31.12.2012 (with option for extension)
Hourly rate: negotiable
