Search Operations Specialist required, to work on a project within a major pharmaceutical in Switzerland.
Main Tasks:
- Our client is a group of software infrastructure and application development professionals that collaborate with the science specific teams to deliver commercial enterprise class software applications and solutions.
- The team provides expertise in database design, services architecture, application design, user experience design, and development methodology and tools.
- The team provides very powerful facilities for searching for and visualizing the relationships between experimental results, compounds, genes, people, etc. in all research applications. The project involves indexing multiple disparate data sources as well as innovative user experience designs.
Main Skills:
- 4 or more years of experience as a Microsoft Windows Server and Internet Information Services (IIS) system administrator in a medium to large enterprise
- Working knowledge/experience with FAST for SP Search
- Working knowledge of SharePoint Concept Query Suggestion
- Experience with configuring SharePoint Query Suggestions, Concept Keywords, BestBets, Preview, Termstore, PeopleSearch
- Experience with FAST Search Query Search Service Application (Query SSA) including crawling and indexing
- An expert in that special balance of wanting to do it the "right way" with the need to "get it done
- Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
- Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
- Demonstrated ability to integrate into a high-performing software engineering team
- Need to be organized, detail oriented and results driven with empathy and passion for users who want great user experiences
- Willingness and ability to use variety of tools in a very heterogeneous environment to achieve science and business goals.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification on MS FAST Search Technology
- Non-Microsoft Enterprise Intranet/web search system expertise (eg Apache Lucene, SOLR)
- B.S. or advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Scripting languages (eg PowerShell, Python)
- Experience with scientific or drug discovery application development
- Interest in intersection between the life sciences and computer science.
- Practical understanding of software development and project management methodologies
- Blend of driving operational maturity across an organization of very diverse and talented people without inhibiting innovation, creativity, and feature velocity
- Team members need to be able to accept responsibility for a large number of initiatives while achieving sufficient focus to drive each to completion
- Team members need to work effortlessly across organizations and across functional disciplines. A natural inclination toward collaborative behavior a must.
