Our client is a well-known financial institution.

Purpose of the job:
- The Architecture, Implementation & Delivery team is responsible for supporting, maintaining and enhancing a portfolio of packaged and internally developed business applications.
- These include applications are used by the Monetary and Economic Department for statistical data collection, quality control, analysis and dissemination, such as MEDTS and DBS Online (used by the Data Bank), MSTAT OLAP (used by IBFS to collect CGFS and FSB statistics) and SDMX.
- The right candidate will have strong experience across the Microsoft.NET toolset, including the WPF and WCF frameworks. They will have a strong focus on designing and implementing a service-oriented architecture to support the sharing and reuse of application services across applications and business units where appropriate. This includes identifying, designing, implementing and coordinating application support of corporate application services in collaboration with other decentralised application development teams across the organisation.
- The right candidate will complement outstanding technical expertise with experience supervising external developers in project work.
- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Business Intelligence toolset is an advantage.
- The variety of the workload demands an adaptable, flexible and collaborative approach. The nature of the statistical data also requires particular attention to the confidentiality of information and the related IT security arrangements.

Principal accountabilities:

- Scopes, analyses, designs, tests and programs in-house .NET-based business applications, both in enhancement and project modes. Selects, installs and configures business packages.
- Undertakes analysis of business requirements, extracts technological needs from user requirements and translates them into detailed system specifications.
- Ensures that the design satisfies business requirements and that stakeholders understand the benefits, drawbacks, risks, costs and time scales of design decisions.
- For designated systems, prepares system test cases and plans, and assists customers in preparing test cases. Executes, records, analyses and reports the results of system tests.
- Ensures all appropriate system documentation is prepared and maintained in accordance with standards and conventions in place.
- Provides support for designated production systems on her/his own or with the help of internal or external resources.
- Keeps line manager and project manager informed of progress, risks and timeline challenges.

Work experience required:
- At least five years experience in systems analysis and design and programming in several of the following environments: .NET platform, including C#, WPF, WCF, Entity framework and MS SQL Server (T-SQL). Experience with related technologies such as Infragistics, NetAdvantage and ReSharper is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of service-oriented architecture and experience in implementing application and corporate services.
- Experience with standards on documentation and use of design patterns.
- Knowledge of change management and project methodology (in particular PMI) standards.
- Prior experience working with sensitive/confidential data.
- Experience with Windows 2008 R2 servers and Linux.
- Experience with agile and test-driven development, like Scrum methodology, an advantage.
- Good knowledge of MS SQL Server Business Intelligence toolset (especially MS Analysis Services) an advantage.
- Understanding of statistical data exchange standards (eg SDMX) an advantage.
- Good knowledge of data modelling (relational, time series and multidimensional cubes) an advantage.
- Experience working in international assignments in a matrix organisation an advantage.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Graduate degree or equivalent in a numerate discipline; relevant qualification in IT.
- Professional certification as .NET Architect a plus.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to establish strong working relationships with business areas and infrastructure teams.
- Able to take the initiative and organise own work; flexible, service-oriented and able to perform under pressure.
- Good problem-solving and root cause analysis approach.
- Ability to formally document and communicate complex system specifications.
- Excellent team worker; operating in close cooperation with other IT groups, such as Production Services, Security & Architecture and Infrastructure Design teams, will be essential.
