For our customer a big pharmaceutical company in Basel we are looking for a Research Associate in Antibiotics Translational Microbiology
Background:
In the translational microbiology group you will provide microbiology support for molecules in preclinical and clinical stage for the development of new antimicrobial agents. The I2O department is active in the research and development of new therapeutics on the areas of Immune-mediated diseases, Viral infections, Bacterial infections and Eye disorders
Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Performing microbiology assays for testing activity of new antimicrobial agents
* Performing / Optimizing preclinical pharmacology assays
* Maintain lab infrastructure and technical equipment
* Document protocols, data analysis and interpretation
* Supporting microbiology laboratory automation
Must haves:
* You have a BSc/MSc or completed a Lab technician apprenticeship with previous exposure to bacteriology or, a related field
* Min. two years of experience in a research lab
* Experience in manipulation of BSLII microorganisms, including handling of large strain collection of clinical isolates
* Knowledge of microbiology applied to antibacterial agents including the ability to develop new methods for the assessment of antibiotics activity
* Experience in performing in vitro assays, e.g. MIC (in Broth and Agar), MBC, time kill, combination and resistance studies in accordance to guidelines (e.g. CLSI and EUCAST)
* Experience in genetic and molecular Biology, including sequencing analysis applied to the understanding of the target identification and resistance of the antimicrobial agents
* Efficient presentation and communication skills
