Background:
The power of data at scale has transformed almost every industry, personalizing experiences in many aspects of our lives. Yet in healthcare, we've only scratched the surface. At Genentech they are accelerating the use of data insights and digital technologies to make significant strides to reach the full potential of personalized healthcare. We are seeking mission-driven, ardent, self-starting, creative individuals to join us in this effort.
The Digital and Hospital System Integration Specialist is part of the PHC Informatics Team that provides global technology solutions to enable the Pharma PHC Vision and Strategy for all PHC applications such as Digital Health, Data Management, and Advanced Analytics.
We expect the Digital Health Informatics Product Specialist to be an effective team player, leader and communicator in working with multiple business units as well as with internal Informatics cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a curious self-starter that is entirely capable of generating results within ambiguous environments.
The Digital and Hospital System Integration Specialist will join our diverse community of smart, fun, wholehearted, and engaged informatics professionals from various functional areas. The Digital and Hospital System Integration Specialist will work close to the innovative Digital Patient Monitoring team (DPM), cross-functional business/medical digital team that aims to scale-up remote monitoring of cancer patient symptoms in order to support them through their treatment journey. The Architect plays a critical role in advising how to optimize the build of a Cloud Platform based ecosystem - via a 3rd party DPM provider - and connecting it to diverse hospital clinical information systems (eg Epic, Cerner, Medidata-Rave). The purpose is to establish real world data flows for our client which enable (anonymized) extracts of patient electronic health records, EHRs, & electronic case report forms, eCRFs, to be collected for advanced analytical insights and ultimately to improve patient outcomes and provide evidence for value based pricing models.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
Lead the architecture and technical input from the pharma client side required to scale the patient data ecosystem described above, and align with other cross-functional team members
partner with 3rd party DPM provider - in an advisory & consulting capacity - to integrate the planned new interface with diverse clinical information systems at selected hospitals in different countries
Attend onsite hospital visits to assess current clinical information systems, gather hospital team requirements for integration, plan and support the DPM 3rd party to deliver successful installations
Lead and shape architectural design connecting hospitals with 3rd party solutions
Ensure that the new architectural ecosystem enables data flows for real world data elements to transfer from the hospital systems (EHRs, eCRFs, Registries) to the pharma client's data warehouse
Understanding ETL processes and varying data formats/standards, to achieve the best collection of key data (from EHRs, eCRFs, Registries) in a secure & compliant manner
Creation of step-by-step technical project plans, and ability to explain them to the business team, for achieving the above.
Must Haves:

8+ years as a Technical or Solution Architect designing & implementing complex patient data ecosystems (scaling up via an MVP and future product feature backlog approach)
Creating and managing a best-in-class external-facing API layer to be used for business-partner integration, to support external thick-clients (eg mobile apps for use by customers) and by third-party applications and services
Deep understanding of hosting Digital Health focused PHI/PII workloads in public clouds to meet Global compliance and security requirements eg HIPAA, HITRUST, ASIP, ISO and GDPR etc.
Experience with integration of diverse hospital clinical information systems (especially for EHRs, eCRFs, clinical trial Registries - eg Epic, Cerner, Medidata-Rave etc.)
Strong Experience in HL7/FHIR or other data standards
Experience working with Agile/Scrum teams as a Team Member, and/or Scrum Master, and/or Product Owner
