Windows client Engineer required, to work on a Project within a major Bank.
As part of the IT Services team, the mandate of the team is to provision, manage and support the infrastructure required to test, package, distribute, maintain, monitor and decommission client and server software. The team also ensures that the end-user client and printing environments meet the varying business requirements whilst adhering to Banks policies and standards. The team liaises closely with outsourcing providers and the Windows and Network service delivery teams on topics impacting the client environment, such as group policy, end-point encryption, client antivirus software and SCCM.
Main Purpose:
The primary purpose of this role, as a member of the Client Service Delivery Team, is to support in the design, implementation and management of the client infrastructure. Your role will be to act as a client infrastructure specialist in support of the Bank’s desktop environment. This includes implementation, rollout and maintenance of the Windows 10 client and related infrastructure with a particular focus on system security, security practices and application management.
Primary accountabilities:
• Implementing, maintaining and enhancing the platform for packaging, distributing, patching and removing software applications to Windows client devices.
• Managing the user environment, with responsibility for defining, configuring and managing the client desktop experience.
• Third-level support to the Windows client environments to include performance monitoring and resolution of client performance issues.
• Implementing the client endpoint security posture ensuring compliance with the Banks standards and expectations.
• Supporting software managers in meeting their obligations with respect to software asset management and vulnerability management.
• Produce new and maintain the existing technical documentation.
• Drive an evolution of the enterprise print environment. Maintain, secure and update existing print servers. Create and manage print queues.
• Drive an evolution of a thin client systems management, application whitelisting, escalation of permissions and removable device control solutions.
Required Skills:
• Good knowledge of Windows 10 operating systems.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office 2016 and 365 deployment and support
• Good understanding of SCCM software packaging and distribution techniques, including:
o Creation, customisation and deployment of msi packages,
o Creation, customisation and deployment of AppV packages.
o Patch file creation and distribution (operating system and applications)
• Sound understanding of at least one of the technology below:
o IGEL Universal Management Suite
o BeyondTrust Defendpoint
o Ivanti Device Control
