Junior Data Engineer (Data analytics)

On behalf of our client, a leading financial institution in Zürich, we are looking for an Data engineer to work on sophisticated SQL queries in combination with data analytics tool such as Python, R, Java/Scala. If interested, please have a look at the details below:
The successful candidate will join a team within the compliance division for one of the major banks. You will gain an exposure and work closely with data owners, business and the big data project for the data sourcing requirements in a demanding, dynamic and international environment. This is an opportunity to discover and understanding the source systems.
Main responsibilities:
- Working with data owners, business and the data project team regarding to the data sourcing requirements
- Responsible to drive data discovery and understanding source systems
- Collecting megadata and mapping data elements to business data requirements
- Develop the specification and drive the implementation of data quality requirements and checks
- Be the go-to person to connect specification to source systems for the development team
The skills and experience needed for these positions are:
- At least 2-3 years' experience in data analytics
- At least 2 years' experiences with assembling and analysing data sets from disparate sources, applying quantitative methodologies, computational frameworks and systems
- At least 2 years' experience working with SQL queries
- At least 2 years' experience with data analytics tools such as Python, R, Java/Scala, SQL or SAS
- A bachelor or master's degrees in a quantitative field (Statistics, mathematics and economics) or information technology
- Have experience with big data and agile tools is a plus
- Must speak fluent English, German would be a plus
