IT Systems Engineer_IMS/Mainframe
Project/Role:
For our customer, a renowned Banking company in Switzerland, we are looking for an experienced IT - Systems Engineer. The role is contract position initially for 12 months (with strong possibility of extension) in Zurich Switzerland.
Job Summary:
The main function of a systems engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work. A typical systems engineer analyzes user needs, and then designs, tests, and develops software to meet those needs.
Job Responsibilities:
-Analyze and diagnose performance issues within IMS transaction.
-Optimize and automate IMS processes.
-Install, customize and maintain IBM IMS TM and IMS DB (IMS V14/V15 and SMP/E knowledge necessary).
-Develop, customize and maintain IMS Exits.
-Train young Mainframe talents and career starters in IMS.
-Ready to guarantee 7/24h support for IMS, CICS and WebServices.
-CICS V5.3 - V5.5 knowledge is an advantage as required for support reasons.
-Direct programmers and analysts to make changes to existing databases and database management systems.
-Direct others in coding logical and physical database descriptions.
-Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.
-Review and approve database development and determine project scope and limitations.
-Approve, schedule, plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems.
-Implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
-Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information.
Skills:
-Deep IMS engineering skills. Preferable in IMS V14/V15.
-Assembler skills to customize and maintain IMS Exits.
-IMS DB skills.
-Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.
-Expert ability to work independently and manage one's time.
-Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
-Expert knowledge of the full software development life cycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.
-Expert ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.
-Expert knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software.
-Expert knowledge of computer development software across multiple platforms.
Nice to have:
-PL/I and REXX skills
-CICS skills
Education/Experience:
-Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.
-10+ years' experience required.
