CISCO NETWORK WAN ENGINEER

Bern - Switzerland

Experis IT Switzerland is urgently looking for a CISCO Network WAN Engineer to join one of their clients in Bern, a well-known organization with a fantastic brand! For this role we are looking for a candidate ideally with experience in a similar role to start ASAP who can speak fluent English and German.

Duration: 6 months + (contract role)

Role:

  • Duties include leading enterprise network engineering solution design whiteboard sessions for the DHS WAN/LAN and data center accounts.
  • In this role, you will assist with the design and implementation of Wide Area Networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks.
  • Perform network modelling, analysis, and planning and may be responsible for researching and recommending network and data communications technologies, as well as preparing cost estimates and network designs specifications.
  • White board unique customer solutions to verify network and load balancing requirements for the WAN.
  • Gain an understanding how the DHS Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) functions, how it is put together and how to migrate customers into complexion solutions.
  • Duties include leading enterprise network engineering solution design whiteboard sessions for the DHS data center account.
  • Work with the Network Services Team to design, test, develop configurations and install IOS code as required then implement migrations as well as plan the next refresh association with the WAN expansion area.
  • This may require new technology Routers, Switches, Firewall, blue coats, and Proxy services, F5 and VPN hardware.
  • Support Tier 3 (SME) on call support when major connectivity issues arise supplying expertise in troubleshooting, isolate, solve connectivity issues across the DHS WAN. DHS WAN.
  • Understand Cisco, Juniper VPN, DMVPN switch topology or become familiar quickly upon arrival.
  • Understand F5 load balance principles and design criteria for government.
  • Understand Riverbed Steelhead WAN acceleration principles and design criteria.
  • Understand state-full, Proxy and reverse Proxy security Firewall principles.

Technical Knowledge and Skills required:

  • 15 plus years of Network WAN/LAN necessary.
  • Fluency in English and German
  • The candidate should possess experience in Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), Trusted Internet Connection (TIC), DMVPN, network virtual switching, load balancing, and WAN acceleration design and implementation using Cisco, F5, Juniper, virtual switching, etc.
  • Experience implementing and supporting IP, EIGRP, IGRP, BGP, IPsec, OSPF, RIP1/2, and understanding of Static routing.
  • Advanced experience in designing and configuring all types of CISCO hardware and IOS.
  • Knowledge of additional network products from various manufacturers is a plus (Juniper, etc. ).
  • Extensive experience with interior and exterior routing protocols with advance knowledge of BGP and MPLS.
  • Experience with various technologies used to deliver highly redundant networks on all layers of the OSI Model.
  • Knowledge and experience managing LAN switching environments with VLANS, Spanning Tree, VTP, Ether channel, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience managing WAN environments with WAN protocols such as Frame Relay, HDLC, PPP, Multi-Link PPP, T1, DS3, MPLS, etc.
  • Experience with network security platforms and technologies such as PIX, IPS/IDS, IDSM2, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong technical documentation skills. Self-motivated and ability to work with limited direction.
  • Must have proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and effectively prioritize multiple work streams
