For our client, global banking company, located in Zurich is looking for a Unix System Administrator for a 5-Months contract.
You will be a member of the Zurich Unix L3 team, which is responsible for operations of regional and global Unix environment. We require Unix System Administrator, who will lead and participate in the migration project, where Solaris 10 estate is being migrated to Solaris 11 solution.
Tasks & Responsibilities
. You will be primary expected to drive the planning and execution for Solaris 11 migrations from Unix perspective.
. Third Level Support of Oracle Solaris 10, Solaris 11, and Redhat in a distributed server environment liaising with regional and global counterparts.
. Understand business priorities; adequately prioritise work accordingly to meet business objectives
. Drive for improvements and implement them in regional or global scale
. Communicate and collaborate with other internal partners for designing, planning and coordination of implementation to ensure work is completed in a timely manner
. Write technical documentations in regards to the migration and technologies used by OS:
Veritas Filesystem, Unix File System, Veritas Volume Manager, Disksuite, ZFS, ASM, LVM
LDAP, Kerberos, NTP, DNS, NIS, OS: Solaris 10 and Solaris 11
. Hardware: Sun Fire and enterprise product line, Fujitsu Prime power series, HP, IBM and DELL server HW and fundamentals of SAN and NAS storage
. Participation in weekend and evening work
. Write automations with strategic tools within the company.
Our ideal candidate should have the following requisites:
. At least 5 years experience in supporting UNIX based distributed computing environment with large number of Servers.
. Prior industry experience is not mandatory, though will be considered favourably
. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
. Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
. Understanding of a UNIX-based operating systems, especially Solaris 10 and Solaris 11 (including zones) are required.
. Networking skills
Skills of the following products are mandatory:
. Solaris 10 (including zones)
. Solaris 11 (including zones)
In addition to Solaris, skills in at least two of the following products are favourable:
. Ability to write scripts in administrative languages (for examples. Perl, Python, Shell)
. Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing and storage environment concepts and technologies - LAN, WAN, routing protocols, NFS, DNS, NIS, LDAP, SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, etc
. Veritas foundation suite
. Veritas Cluster Server
. Redhat Linux Cluster Server
