Citrix Systems Engineer - 3rd Line - XenApp, XenDesktop, VMware
Leading global pharmaceutical company require a Senior Level Citrix Systems Engineer for a long-term contract based in Basel.
The Citrix Engineer will report directly to the Informatics, SharePoint and Shared Platforms team manager.
Responsibilities:
* Supports NX in maintaining a highly available Citrix XenDesktop environment
* Supports NX in resolving environmental issues reported by Citrix users (tier 3 support)
* Works closely with the NX Client technologies team to integrate operating system images into VDIs
* Works to ensure that the Citrix environment is patched according to Citrix recommendations
* Works to ensure that the Citrix environment is monitored to ensure business continuity
* Aligns closely with colleagues in order to deliver the best possible Citrix service to the business
* Works to automate existing manual processes where possible eg. Auto VDI creation/assignment triggered by request form/approval
* Maintains a good knowledge of the latest virtual desktop and virtualized application industry trends
Experience:
* At least 5 years' experience in administering enterprise scale Citrix environments
- Citrix XenApp 6.5, XenDesktop 5.6 and XenDesktop 7.9 environments (XenDesktop 7.15 knowledge desirable)
* Architecting and implementing global Citrix environments
* Experience with upgrading enterprise Citrix environments
* Excellent knowledge of the physical and logical architectures associated with enterprise level Citrix installations
* Manage and troubleshoot virtual machine issues on VMWare ESX 6.5
* Manage and troubleshoot machines on PVS 7.9
* Excellent PowerShell Scripting skills (PowerCLI skills desirable)
* Should be able to support Windows 7 and Windows 10 based VDI issues
* Ability to develop and promote new ideas and solutions within the technology stack
* Ability to work effectively in cross functional and global teams
* Demonstrated productivity in complex organizations
* Excellent communication skills (English)
